If you have a small business or online business you know the cost associated with paying someone to market your business and the cost of advertising online. It can take up most, if not all, of your monthly profit if you aren’t careful.
Here are 5 ways you can build your business online for FREE! Develop a recognizable brand across all platforms, do promotions & giveaways, utilize an influencer, use more video, and stay consistently active. I’ll go into all of these in detail below but if you utilize these steps, you WILL see growth in your business. AND it won’t break the bank.
Develop a Recognizable Brand
If your potential client goes to any of your platforms (website, social media, print, tv, etc.) they should easily recognize your brand. Over time, seeing the same brand will help familiarize & build trust for the client. Use the same color scheme, wording, and similar messaging for all posts.
If you change one profile photo, change them all. This makes your brand have a nice cohesive feel. We know that creating graphics for your brand is not always free but once you have those graphics, utilizing them on everything you post is a free way to promote and build your business.
FedEx is a great example of using your brand across all platforms. They kept the same recognizable logo across each of their branches but changed the end color.
Provide Promotions and Giveaways
A great way to build a following is doing giveaways for people who like, comment, share, and tag others in your post. Make sure you are clear about the terms of the giveaway in the description. If you can find a few other businesses to do the giveaway with, you can each promote the giveaway on your pages. This increases your audience and helps each of your businesses build a following of engaged clients. I have seen small businesses build huge growth using this method.
Partner with an Influencer
First of all, what is an influencer? An influencer is someone who has established themselves as an authority in a specific industry, has a massive following, and is able to persuade their audience to buy or invest in a product or service.
The bigger the influencer, the more they charge to promote your business. If you can find an influencer who truly believes in you, they might be the perfect way to promote your business. Make sure when you are seeking out an influencer, you are using someone who’s followers would be an audience interested in your business. (i.e., a beauty influencer promoting a makeup brand.)
Make sure you have contracts and all the details of your promotion in place before you start working with an influencer. This helps the process run smoothly for both you and the influencer. If you are successful in finding an awesome influencer for free or trading services/products for promotion, this has proven to be a great way to build your business online for free.
More and more clients are having great success with video. Just writing a blog post is not going to get the attention that you desire. Even a nice photo with a great caption isn’t going to get the same attention that a video will.
Many people struggle with getting in front of the camera but this is one of the easiest ways to put out content without having to write a long blog or post. Our advice is to learn to get comfortable in front of the camera.
Video is especially attractive if it plays automatically, is short and to the point, and has a catchy caption that makes the audience want to know more.
Video a great way for your audience to relate to you and your business. Many viewers say they feel like they know the person on the other end of the camera before they even do business with you.
You may be concerned that creating video content is expensive. Most of the video that is created online is put together with an iPhone. You don’t need expensive equipment for a beautiful backdrop to put up some great video. Creating a video can be a free, quick, and easy way to build your business online.
Post Content Consistently
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to post 18 times a day per platform. You do, however, have to be consistently posting at the same times and days.
our audience will come to expect and look forward to your posts. We recommend planning your posts ahead of time and doing some weekly posts the audience can learn to expect like “Throwback Thursday, Wisdom Wednesday, Tip Tuesday, etc.”
Well planned out posting can save you a lot of time and stress throughout the week. TAG Creative Marketing uses a platform that allows us to pre-plan posts in advance for our clients. Sites like Hootsuite or Sprout Social are great resources to do this on your own. Posting consistent content is free and builds your business with an engaged audience.
Find friends, family members, current clients, or employees who will serve as ambassadors to promote and share your business for a free product or service. This is a great way to spread the word. If you know of anyone who believes in what you are promoting or is a raving fan of your business, ask him or her to spread the word on your amazing product or service for a free or discounted product or service. They are already a fan of your business so; it shouldn’t take a lot of convincing to have them promote you. This is a great free way to build your business and keep your best customers happy and coming back for more.
Of course, each of these options takes a rather large investment of time. We at TAG Creative Marketing know because this is what we do every day as social media managers.
If you have a business that is time-intensive and you have the funds to do so, hiring a social media manager is a very wise investment. We’re not talking about asking your aunt to throw up some posts for you, we mean hiring someone trained in how to build a business through social media. If this sounds like you, feel free to contact us or click to schedule a free 15 minute Discovery Call . We can discuss where some gaps are in your business presence online and how we can fill those gaps to help you experience massive business growth in a shorter period of time than doing it yourself.
